Purchase Agreement/2-Year Health Warranty

Thank you for deciding to purchase one of our puppies/bloodhounds. This contract is for the protection of both the breeder and the buyer - However, it is primarily to protect the health and general well-being of the puppy/bloodhound.

Purchase Agreement

1. Please read the health warranty completely before putting a deposit on a puppy/bloodhound. By putting a deposit on a puppy/bloodhound, you are agreeing to the terms and conditions within this contract whether you sign it or not.

2. All puppies/bloodhounds are sold AKC limited registration unless otherwise stipulated by the seller.

3. We require a $300 NON REFUNDABLE deposit in order to reserve the specific puppy/bloodhound. 

4. This deposit is NON REFUNDABLE. If there is a problem with the health of your puppy/bloodhound at purchase, the deposit will be transferred toward a comparable puppy/bloodhound at the breeder’s selection.

 

Please be certain that you are ready for the time, commitment, financial and emotional responsibility of a puppy/bloodhound prior to putting a deposit on one.  A BLOODHOUND IS A LIFETIME COMMITMENT.

Health Warranty/Legalities

1. It will be up to us, the breeder, to decide when the puppy/bloodhound will be ready to go to its new home. Usually at the age of 8 weeks for puppies, depending on the being released by the vet, weight of the puppy/bloodhound and how easily it is weaned from the mother. We will not, under any circumstances, let the puppy/bloodhound leave before it is ready. There is an additional $40 a day charge for puppies/bloodhounds kept longer than 9 weeks of age, if the puppy/bloodhound is cleared for its new home. 

2. The puppy/bloodhound is warranted to be vet checked and deemed in good health at the time of sale unless otherwise stated.

3. The puppy/bloodhound will be up to date on shots and worming at the time of delivery/pickup. As a buyer you agree to continue the vaccinations and worming of the puppy. Please do not expose your puppy/bloodhound to any second environment, people or other dogs that are not vaccinated until he/she has completed the entire vaccination schedule - around 16-20 weeks old. Trips away from your home are not advised.

4. The buyer, at their own expense, will have the puppy/bloodhound examined by a licensed vet within 72 hours of receiving the puppy.

5. Written documentation of the vet visit must be sent to the breeder within 7 days in order for the Health Warranty to be honored.

6. If within 72 hours, a licensed vet finds the puppy/bloodhound to be unhealthy or unfit for sale, the puppy/bloodhound may be returned and the deposit will be transferred toward another puppy/bloodhound - provided the puppy/bloodhound has not been injured or neglected. The veterinarian must provide a written statement deeming the puppy/bloodhound “unhealthy for purchase.” 

7. This warranty does not cover any health issues caused by non-vaccination, neglect or injury from the buyer.

8. This warranty does not include illnesses and health issues such as colds, kennel cough, allergies, internal or external parasites or umbilical hernias. This warranty does not include entropion. However, the breeder will disclose any known condition or issues prior to the sale. 

9. The breeder cannot assume responsibility for this puppy/bloodhound after the sale. It is the responsibility of the buyer to care for the puppy/bloodhound properly and keep it free from harm and well fed. Please remember that your puppy/bloodhound must be treated with great care and protected from danger.

10. The breeder gives a 2 year Health Warranty against any congenital defects of a puppy under 16 weeks of age. If this should occur then the puppy will be returned to the breeder, and the buyer will receive another puppy/bloodhound at the breeder’s selection. The breeder’s vet must conclude the puppy/bloodhound has a congenital defect. (NOTE: Older or rehomed bloodhounds are on a case by case situation.) 

11. If the buyer chooses to keep the puppy/bloodhound with a congenital defect, the buyer will spay/neuter the puppy/bloodhound and surrender the AKC papers to the breeder. 

12. If the buyer chooses to keep the puppy/bloodhound with a congenital defect, the breeder will be held harmless and not responsible for any medical bills. 

13. The breeder assumes no responsibility for any medical expenses incurred after the sale. 

14. The breeder assumes no responsibility for training difficulties or behavior problems after the sale. It is the owners responsibility to train and socialize the puppy/bloodhound after the sale.

15. The breeder does not guarantee size. We can give the buyer the weight & size of the puppy’s parents. We can give an educated guess, but there are too many variables besides genetics to determine size. 

16. The puppy/bloodhound is strictly sold as a quality pet with no breeding rights unless otherwise agreed upon.

17. If a puppy/bloodhound is bred without the permission of The Dam Bloodhounds, the buyer will be subject to liquidated damages of $1000 per puppy, attorney’s fees in the amount of $2000.00, and the legal cost of bringing this action to enforce the terms of the contract.  

18. If the buyer is found to have bred or breeding a limited AKC puppy/dog, the buyer agrees to surrender the puppy/bloodhound and any and all offspring to The Dam Lodge Bloodhounds with no refund.

19. The buyer is responsible for the care and well-being of the puppy/bloodhound including obedience training, proper nutritional concern and infestation care to include heartworm, flea and tick preventative medicine.

20. If a puppy/bloodhound sold is EVER found to be in danger, unsafe or an unhealthy condition or environment, underfed, tied out or chained, the buyer agrees to surrender the puppy/dog to The Dam Lodge Bloodhounds with no refund. 

21. If for any reason the buyer is ever unable to keep the puppy/bloodhound, the buyer agrees to notify The Dam Lodge Bloodhounds and NOT place the puppy/bloodhound in another home/shelter/environment unless given permission by the breeder. 

22. A puppy/bloodhound being returned MUST show proof of vaccinations prior coming back to The Dam Lodge Bloodhounds.

23. All parties agree it is criminal conversion to re-homed a puppy/bloodhound without the permission of The Dam Lodge Bloodhounds.

24. If the puppy/bloodhound is returned within the first 30 days, half of the purchase price will be refunded after the puppy/bloodhound has been placed in his/her new home. The other half will cover the cost of re-homing and keeping the puppy/bloodhound current on vaccinations and worming until the puppy/bloodhound is placed in his/her new home. 

25. If a puppy/bloodhound is found to be rehomed without the permission of The Dam Lodge Bloodhounds the buyer will be subject to liquidated damages in the amount up $1500, attorney’s fees in the amount of $2000.00, and the legal cost of bringing this action to enforce the terms of the contract.

26. Ligation can and will be used to ensure the safety and well-being of a puppy/bloodhound sold by The Dam Lodge Bloodhounds.
